Provence Market

I've gotten quite a bit done on this one since the last time it was posted. The first 40 rows are now officially done!

I've started to get into some of the pavement stitches, which are basically all half stitches, so those go pretty quickly in the first place, plus the fact that a bunch of them are already done. I got to bypass a grand total of 1 file so far because I finally hit one of the files for the already-done colour!

Obviously this didn't all get done today, but  this represents another 71 files down, 3772 stitches. 187 files left to go!

Wonderful Windmill

It is done! Pre-backstitching:
And post:
It looks a whole lot better in the second photo, not just because of the backstitching, but also because it's still wet (making the stitches plump up and the colours a lot more vibrant) and the picture's taken in a different lighting.

This was due for a birthday on the 27th, so I made that deadline, but unfortunately the recipient lives 2+ hours away and the 'delivery service' that I was going to use to bring it to them went for a visit yesterday.

I'm going to have to get a frame for it, and send it off the next time they go to visit.

Wonderful Windmill

Turns out, being sick is not conducive to getting much stitching done. We're getting close now at least though: less than five colours left to go before backstitching. I think I might have all the greens done.

Wonderful Windmill

That sky took forever. But all that blue is done now. And two of the biggest of the flower colours (the pink and the yellow).

Wonderful Windmill

Totally lost track of time! I've a birthday at the end of the month that I wanted to make this piece for and I didn't realize that it was already March! Got the pattern transcribed and the supplies ready to start this on Friday night, hopefully I've enough time.

That off-white in the sky took a day and a half on its own, but at least now that's the largest colour done. The pattern called for two skeins for this colour and only one for the others. I was skeptical that I'd have enough: I was estimating one skein per 1k stitches. Turns out, I didn't even finish the first skein, so I'm feeling better about having enough floss!
